Philip St. Moritz founded Security
Services, Inc. in 1982. Security Services, Inc. was created
as a value added service for Mr. St. Moritz’s successful
janitorial company located in Western Pennsylvania. Upon
incorporation, Security Services, Inc. experienced steady
growth through established contacts from the janitorial
company, and the general need for a service oriented security
company in Western Pennsylvania.
In 1989, Mr. St. Moritz made
the decision to expand Security Services, Inc. through
acquisition of smaller security companies in Pennsylvania,
Ohio, Maryland, and Virginia. To date, over 23 acquisitions
have been completed with the most recent acquisition of
Whitemarsh Security in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 1995, due to the growth of
Security Services, Inc. and licensing requirements in various
states, St. Moritz was added to the Security Services,
Inc. name. St. Moritz Security Services, Inc. then added
the slogan “Protecting Your Interests”. A new
corporate logo was created, and the uniforms were changed
from black and gold to black and red.
A security company was needed
to provide police officer escorts for jewelry and jewelry
representatives traveling from location to location. St.
Moritz was approached to develop this network and perform
this service for jewelers across the country. St. Moritz
created the Jewelry Escort Division and developed a network
of over 2000 off duty and retired police officers to provide
the service for the jewelry companies.
Due to the success of the Jewelry
Escort Division, St. Moritz continued to look for niche
businesses within the security industry. St. Moritz refined
the ATM Division in 2001. The ATM Division specializes
in on-call, armed security officers to guard ATM technicians
as they repair ATM machines. St. Moritz developed a network
of proprietary security officers and contracted, affiliate
security companies to provide guard service for the ATM
Division. For this division to operate properly, St. Moritz
had to staff a twenty four hour Dispatch Center to
handle the volume of call requests from ATM technicians.
The St. Moritz Dispatch Center became an integral part
of the ATM Division and a value added service for all St.
Moritz clients.
With St. Moritz network of proprietary
security officers, off duty/retired police officers, and
contracted, affiliate security companies; St. Moritz created
a National Services Division in 2002. The National Services
Division specializes in providing coverage for national
retailers and companies searching for streamlined guard
service through one point of contract and billing.
By 2003, St. Moritz was recognized
as one of the fastest growing companies in the Pittsburgh
area by the Pittsburgh Business Times. On a national level,
St. Moritz was ranked as the 34th largest security company
in the United States. St. Moritz enjoys the distinction
of being the largest, privately held, Pittsburgh based
security company.
St. Moritz entered the Florida market by opening offices in Hollywood and Orlando. We established ourselves as major provider of guard coverage statewide.
We expanded our services into providing high end retail establishments with very high quality public relations minded officer’s for clients such as Cartier, DeBeers and Gucci. We are now providing service nationwide and especially in large markets such as New York City, Miami and Los Angeles.
St. Moritz has experienced tremendous growth over the past 25 years. The projection for the next four years has St. Moritz reaching the one hundred million mark by 2010. This growth will be achieved by entering more of the top markets in the United States, continued niche business, evidence our being awarded the contract to provide service for the US Consulate in Vancouver, BC, and strategic acquisition of smaller security company accounts.
