St Moritz Security Services, Inc., Safety Meeting, Friday, July 25, 2008
Present: Vickie M., Paul M., Tim D., Doris B.
The meeting was held in the Conference Room, Dispatch Center, 4500 Clairton Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA
The meeting started at 0900.
The accidents that occurred since the July, 2008 meeting were reviewed:
- 7/31/08-an employee twisted ankle on uneven pavement; one day out of work and medical treatment
- 8/6/08-Two employees reported being scratched by a patient they were restraining; these were report only and required no treatment.
There were no vehicle accidents to report.
The minutes from the July 2008 meeting were unanimously accepted; a first was provided by Paul M. and seconded by Tim D.
We discussed attracting new members to the committee. It was noted that we are not locked into having the meetings on Fridays and they can be moved to a different day to accommodate additional members if required.
The Safety hazard from July 2008: Doris B. spoke with the Security Mgr. at Jefferson hospital about the possibility of a STOP sign being erected at the doorway behind the Physical Therapy Bldg/Tendercare Bldg.. He said that the local police had also recommended that a sign be erected but at this point, the hospital did not have plans to do so. The Senior Services will be relocating to the main hospital building and Tendercare will be expanding into that space. He said that he would note our concern about the vehicle vs. children at that entrance once the new space is setup.
The committee reviewed a draft of the Autumn Safety newsletter; this will be distributed to offices and sites after Labor Day.
The Commonwealth of PA requires all certified Safety committees to have mandatory training every year to maintain their certification. Doris will contact AIG’s Risk Mgt. Department to set a training date and we will schedule our meetings around that date.
Charles K. was to present the Safety hazard for this meeting but was unable to attend; he will present it at the September meeting.
The topic for this meeting was "New Hire Safety"
The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 19, 2008 at 0900. |
